STAR Ghana

STAR – Ghana is a multi- donor pooled funding mechanism (Funded by DFID, DANIDA and EU) to increase the influence of civil society and Parliament in the governance of public goods and service delivery, with the ultimate goal of improving the accountability and responsiveness of Ghana’s government, traditional authorities and the private sector.

WAAF applied for funding through STAR during the first call for proposals and requested for funding to empower vulnerable groups to make them self sufficient as well as fight HIV related stigma. This proposal was approved and since March 2011, WAAF is implementing the STAR funded project.

2010 world AIDS DAY

World AIDS Day, December 1^st, is a day to celebrate progress on matters pertaining to HIV. It is a day to raise awareness of the continued issues surrounding HIV around the world as well as a day to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS. Last but not least, it is a day to fight hard against HIV related stigma and discrimination.

To commemorate 2010 World AIDS Day, the West Africa AIDS Foundation carried out HIV counselling and testing within the HIV WAD programs of these organisations. Some of these were Barclays bank,Total Ghana,Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd
